School today, showcase travel tonight. Today was a full day of school. Post calculus math, statistics, the whole nine yards. Now it’s showcase time – going from SC to SC.
First I am headed to South Carolina on tonight and then I am headed to Southern California on Saturday and then I am headed home Sunday.
Some tips for other high school players looking to get recruited.
First, get a nutritious breakfast. Also do lunch, but for dinner, make sure mom or dad takes you to Applebees.
Second, fly. Driving is too long, thought I think we have a three hour drive from Atlanta to where we’re headed in South Carolina. It’s weird seeing this picture. This is the same backpack I had when I was 12. It’s been a long time since I played for the Toros, but that bag still works. I have two colleges I am talking to right now and three interested, but just one great bag.
Showcase Travel and Schedule
If you’re reading my blog, you know I am a high school baseball player hoping to be a college baseball player. My goal is to play baseball for the best academic college I can while also continuing to pitch (and hopefully get some at bats too).
It’s why I am so committed to practice. Some people think it is special that I pitch with both arms, but really it is just a muscle memory issue. If you train your muscles to do it, they will.
Anyway, tomorrow morning is Erskine College in South Carolina. I met their Head Coach Mark Crocco at the Showball Academic Showcase a few months ago and it was a pretty good experience. He was very focused, but also talked about more than baseball. I am looking forward to their camp because it has a classroom component for pitchers about getting warm, staying fit, and hopefully they have a better way to get outs.
Sunday, I am in the other S-C: Southern California. In July I attended Play to Win‘s Daytona Video Day and found the team there to be really professional. They had several positive criticisms which have helped me already, but I am looking to get in front of a few California coaches and put some of this advice into their game action. My video from July is below and I am sure I will be updating the site with my new video in a few weeks.
Stay safe everyone and keep practicing. You never know when you’ll have the at bat that can win the game, but even if you don’t travel you have a chance to showcase your talent if you put in the work.
