Strike Out Kids Cancer Foundation is participating in North Texas Giving Day 2021. Since 2016 this has been one of the biggest and best parts of my life. This year we are able to do something a little bit special. A donor has offered up an autographed Cowboys football for one donor to win.

North Texas Giving Day 2021 is three weeks away. For every dollar contributed Strike Out Kids Cancer Foundation will enter that number of entries into a random drawing for the Cowboys autographed football. That means if you contribute $5 you will get five entries into the drawing. You can DONATE TODAY.

Why is it important for me to partcipate in North Texas Giving Day 2021?

I started this non-profit, Strike Out Kids Cancer Foundation, because a team mate of mine when I was six was diagnosed with brain cancer. We went to his hospital before his surgery to play ball then.

Later I realized I could bring baseball and other sports to kids with cancer and other medical conditions. How do you get kids in hospitals or other residential care facilities to play baseball? Like Nike said, you just do it.

We bring the ‘highest tech’ to facilities that we can which usually means white duct tape to create base lines and flat bases so we do not create trip hazards. Sometimes we use whiffle balls depending on what room we have available and other times we use soft plush balls so when a patient rocks a home run we don’t break any windows, but we bring the sport to kids who want to play, but can’t for one medical reason or another.

I feel lucky to be able to spend time with kids who love the game as much as I do and I am proud when I say we are making some kids smile and letting them enjoy a few moments in their sunshine.

Together we are going to beat cancer. Until then let’s bring some deserving kids the chance to play ball – whether it is made of pigskin, leather, or even electronics, taking time to spend time with the toughest kids around.

North Texas Giving Day 2021 History

The Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online giving event designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes they care about in one easy-to-use platform. Contributions are currently being accepted for North Texas Giving Day 2021.

The event helps build awareness and support for nonprofits like nothing else. In 2019, $50 million was raised through 102,000 donors benefiting 3,000 local nonprofits, bringing the eleven-year total to over $290 million for our community. North Texas Giving Day is the largest community-wide giving event in the nation.

Since its inception in 2009, this online event has transformed from an idea to help local people give wisely, to a movement that has ignited a broad culture of community-wide giving. During North Texas Giving Day, everyone has the opportunity to be a philanthropist to build a stronger and more vibrant community. This year, the 12th annual North Texas Giving Day will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2020.
